BAN vs PAK 2nd Test, Day 1 LIVE
... DAY 1, SESSION 2 ...
Bowling analysis and injury concerns - Pakistan's bowling attack started with immense discipline, but their rhythm was temporarily disrupted by Bangladesh's early, aggressive approach. Mohammad Abbas looked consistent throughout the morning session to pick up two crucial wickets, while Khurram Shahzad earned one for his efforts. The major concern for the visitors remains a serious injury to Hasan Ali, who had to be stretchered off the field after absorbing a sharp blow to the head. Imam-ul-Haq stepped in as the substitute fielder, but Ali was back on the field after some rest and restarted his spell. We will be back with live coverage of the post-Lunch session at 6.40 am GMT.
Double blow and stabilizing resurgence - Just as the Bangladeshi batsmen seemed comfortable and began transitioning into a more defensive mindset, Pakistan broke through the burgeoning partnership. It was once again Mohammad Abbas who provided the crucial breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Tanzid, and Mominul followed him back to the pavilion shortly after, dismissed by Khurram Shahzad, leaving Bangladesh in a spot of bother. Despite the quick double-strike, senior batsmen Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim steadied the ship. The experienced duo constructed an unbeaten 38-run partnership, safely navigating the remaining overs to guide Bangladesh to the Lunch break without further damage.
Early disasters and explosive counterattack - Pakistan capitalized on the overcast conditions and a green pitch immediately after asking Bangladesh to bat. Opening bowler Mohammad Abbas made an instant impact by removing Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck on the very second ball of the match. However, the early setback did not deter the home side. Debutant Tanzid Hasan took charge with an aggressively counter-attacking approach, smashing a flurry of boundaries to shift the pressure right back onto the Pakistani bowlers. Senior batter Mominul Haque supported the debutant brilliantly, rotating the strike effectively and keeping the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace.
