BAN vs IRE, U-19 World Cup, Live Updates
We are back for the chase! The two Umpires have taken their positions. The Irish fielders have scattered. Ashiqur Rahman Shibli and Adil Bin Siddik will be opening for Bangladesh Under-19. Reuben Wilson to bowl the first over.
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Bangladesh Under-19 on the other hand, will be a bit disappointed with their bowling effort. Their star bowler, Maruf Mridha struck first for his team after receiving a couple of warnings as he was following through in the protected area. Their bowling unit was unable to take wickets at regular intervals and allowed a few partnerships in the middle. The spinners got a lot of turn on this pitch and got wickets initially but could not take full advantage of it. They were decent in ground fielding but in the air, they dropped a couple of catches at the important stages of the game which they had to regret later in the innings. Adil Bin Siddik who comes into the team dropped Kian Hilton when he was on 35, and now he will look to make up for it with the bat. Till the end of the innings, Maruf Mridha and Sheikh Paevez Jibon managed to pick up two wickets each for themselves. Md Rafi Uzzaman Rafi, Mahfuzur Rahman, and Md Rohanat Doullah Borson chipped in with one each. They were chasing something similar in their previous game, but their batters fell well short. So, they will need to be careful here too, and build up partnerships to gun this down. Join us in a bit for the second essay.
Scott Macbeth is up for a quick chat. He says it is a competitive total. Praises Kian Hilton for his excellent knock. Tells that it is always difficult when the ball is spinning that much and the chat between him and Hilton was to build up a partnership. Ends by saying that he is excited to bowl on this wicket and hopes that his team will get the win here.
Ireland Under-19 started a bit slowly but will be happy with their overall effort as this total will give their in-form bowlers a lot of confidence to defend it. They batted steadily, but managed to put the loose balls away. The top-order batters were able to form small partnerships but weren't making anything out of it. Jordan Neill was out there from the start initiating the partnerships but got dismissed on the 16th over. Kian Hilton played a brilliant knock and made a half-century which was needed for the team. Scott Macbeth on the other hand supported Kian by giving him the strike and was able to form a sturdy partnership off 77 runs in 100 deliveries. Kian Hilton got some lifelines in the middle of the innings which he made sure to make a profit out of and got dismissed on the 49th over after plugging an immense knock by scoring 90 runs off 113 deliveries. The lower middle order of the team did enough to put a score of X runs on the board to challenge the batters of the Bangla Tigers. Now it's up to the Irish bowling unit as they have a good set of total and they are moving according to their plan as stated by the skipper, Philippus le Roux during the toss interview.
A brilliant batting display from Ireland Under-19! What an innings we have witnessed from Kian Hilton. He anchored the inning exceptionally well by scoring 90 runs off 113 deliveries. The Bangla Tigers would have wanted to keep the Irish under 200, but a few dropped catches has cost them a lot here.
Only a single to end the innings! This is in the blockhole, on middle, Carson McCullough jams it out towards the mid on region for just a single, Ireland Under-19 finish on 235/8!
OUT! RUN OUT! Another one bites the dust! This is on a hard length and around off, Oliver Riley tries to slog it across the line but misses, Carson McCullough sets off for the run and Riley is a bit late to react, Ashiqur Rahman Shibli behind the stumps collects and throws it to the bowler where Md Rohanat Doullah Borson grabs it and hits the stumps with an overarm throw with Riley well short of his crease. Ireland Under-19 eight down now!
A slower one now, full and around off, Carson McCullough drills it towards deep point for one.
FOUR! Cheeky! Md Rohanat Doullah Borson serves this full an on middle, Carson McCullough shuffles across and connects with the scoop well as the ball goes over short fine leg for a boundary.
Back of a length and outside off, Oliver Riley slices it towards third man for a single.
Olly Riley walks up next at number 9.
OUT! TIMBER! Md Rohanat Doullah Borson gets it right on the money this time! He nails the yorker, on middle, swinging in sharply, John McNally is late to put his bat down in time and the ball goes through to shatter the stumps. A fine knock from John McNally comes to and end. Ireland Under-19 seven down now!
Short of a length and outside off, shaping away, Carson McCullough slashes but misses and the keeper parries it to his right. It is called a wide and a bye is taken.
Fuller one but well outside off, Carson McCullough tries to reach for it but falls to do so. Wided.
Pitched up and on middle, John McNally heaves it away towards deep mid-wicket where the fielder fumbles a bit and the batters get two again. Sloppy from Bangladesh Under-19!
Run out chance....missed! This is overpitched and outside off, John McNally jams it out towards point, the batter sets off for the run, the fielder misses his shy at the bowler's end with McNally well short, the fielder at long on lets it through which allows the second run.
Full but way outside off, John McNally fails to reach for it. Wided.
On a length and around off, Carson McCullough pushes it towards wide of short covers for a quick single.
Who will be walking up next? Carson McCullough walks up next at number eight.
