New Delhi:

His chances to regain a place in the Australian squad diminishing by the day, pacer Stuart Clark is considering playing in the lucrative Indian Premier League besides undertaking a county stint.

Clark, who is suffering from a back injury, believes his international career has come to an abrupt end, but insists recent opportunities have convinced him to continue playing.

"If I woke up in the morning and the desire wasn't there, I would probably give it away. But that's not the way I'm feeling at the moment. There probably won't be many international opportunities coming up anymore, but I still love playing for NSW and idea of playing IPL and county cricket is exciting," said 34-year-old Clark.

The selection of Clint McKay, the rookie Victorian fast bowler, in the squad for the Adelaide Test against West Indies last week appeared to hit the final nail on Clark's international aspirations.

However, the lure of playing domestic cricket across three countries has proven enough incentive to persuade him to continue in the game.

"There are a whole heap of new challenges for me. The opportunity to captain New South Wales has been fantastic and then IPL," Clark, who last played for Australia in the Oval Test in the Ashes in August, was quoted by a cricket site.

Clark sustained a back injury last week but he is targetting a January comeback. He plans to take up a one-year contract with Kent while exploring opportunities in IPL.
