Aussies under-prepared: Dean Jones

Dean Jones feels Australians are looking ragged and underprepared for the four-Test series. After the visitors were sent on a leather hunt by Cheteshwar Pujara (162*) and Murali Vijay (129*) on Day 2 of the Hyderabad Test on Sunday, the NDTV expert feels Australia didn't do enough to take on the Indians.

"I am really happy that the Australians are going through this pain now than coming into the Ashes. Their preparation has been adequate. Just a couple of two or three days games are not enough for a series in India. You've got to prepare for at least a couple of weeks or at least three first class matches before the first Test. So you get what you sow," said Jones.

Jones said that the Australian batsmen had a lot to learn from how Pujara and Vijay batted.

"I just hope the Australian batsmen watched how these two guys went about their job - very straight, very circumspect and very good in defence. The Australian batsmen (instead) just seemed to go hard too early into the innings instead of just being patient," said the former Australian cricketer.

Pujara and Vijay had a second wicket stand of 294 runs which was 57 more than what nine Australian batsmen put on as a team. Michael Clarke (91) and Matthew Wade (62) were the only two batsmen who had showed some application. "I think it was one of the best learning episodes for the Australian cricket on how you go about making runs in India," said Jones.

While he took jibes at Australian batting from the previous day and praised India's reply, Deano was not too pleased with Australian bowling either. Jones said: "The track looked flat today and it looked flat because our bowlers were just not good enough. Simple as that. I am sad for the fans in Australia and even in India because there is absolutely no fight."
