Anil Kumble, on His 44th Birthday, Joins Twitter
Anil Kumble, former India captain, took 619 Test wickets in a stunning career.

On the day he turned 44, former India Test captain Anil Kumble, one of India's greatest match-winners, joined Twitter on Friday. As part of his first day on Twitter, he was seen re-tweeting his birthday wishes from fans.
He has garnered over 3000 followers and his first tweet was re-tweeted over 200 times. Sachin Tendulkar wished the former leg-spinner on his birthday.

Anil Kumble who made his first-class debut at the age of 19 took 619 wickets in Test cricket. He was picked up for the Austral-Asia Cup in 1990 before making his Test debut against England later that year.
He represented the Indian Test team on more than 132 Test matches and was responsible for many of India's victories. As part of the ODI team in early 1990, one of his best performances included his six for 12 (six wickets for 12 runs) against the West Indies.
Anil Kumble was selected for the World Cup in 1996 and emerged as the most successful bowler of the tournament. Playing seven matches, he captured 15 wickets at an average of 18.73.
While playing against Pakistan, Kumble dismissed all the 10 batsmen in a Test match innings becoming only the second player after England's Jim Laker to achieve this feat.
Kumble was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour in 2005. After having played for 18 years, he announced his retirement from international cricket in November 2008.
In October 2012, Kumble was appointed the chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC)'s cricket committee. In January 2013, Kumble accepted the role of chief mentor with the Mumbai Indians, resigning from a similar position he held in the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
