Heavy rain led to the abandonment of the Group A match between Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions in the Champions League Twenty20 here on Thursday. (How rain ruined the CSK vs LL match)
The no-result meant both teams walked away with two points apiece. The Super Kings are currently on six points from three games while the Lions picked up their first points in two matches.
The seasonal rain that began about 30 minutes before the scheduled start and continued for over an hour, flooded the outfield while the pitch and its periphery were under covers.
After waiting for a while, the umpires decided that there was no possibility of play with the rain continuing unabated.
Super Kings conclude their league engagements on Saturday when they face Perth Scorchers who are on four points in a match that could well decide the second qualifier from Group A.
Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders, who are on a hot run with 12 consecutive victories, have already qualified for the semi-finals from Group A winning all their three matches and a game in hand, leaving the other four teams to fight it out for the second spot from the group.
