India's Greco-Roman wrestlers have put up a dismal show compared to their freestyle counterparts as the quartet of Sandeep Yadav (66 kg), Gurpreet Singh (75 kg), Manoj Kumar (85 kg) and Dharmender Dalal (130 kg) failed to even reach the medal rounds in their respective categories. (Day 12 Highlights)
In the 130 kg category, Iranian Bashir Darzi proved to be too strong for Dalal as he beat the burly Indian 4-0 in a one-sided contest. Since Bashir lost his next bout, Dalal couldn't qualify for the repechage round.
In the 75 kg event, Gurpreet Singh won his first bout against Bakhit Badr of Qatar 4-0 but lost the quarter-final to Payam Payani of Iran, who lost in the semi-finals ending Gurpreet's chances of getting to the repechage bout.
In the men's 85 kg quarter-final, Manoj Kumar lost 0-3 to his Chinese opponent Fei Peng but he also didn't get a repechage bout as Peng lost his semi-final bout.
The last man in fray, Sandeep Yadav lost his opening pre-quarter-final bout against Uzbekistan's Khusrav Obloberdiev, whose poor show in the subsequent round shut the doors on Sandeep's chances of a repechage bronze.
