Another story of humble beginnings, Narsingh Yadav originally hails from eastern Uttar Pradesh. He began training at 13 and has not looked back. A late-replacement in the Commonwealth Games, he manged to make the most of his opportunity as he grabbed the best medal that was on offer. Then again, that is what he is all about.
He has been selected to represent the country in the London Olympics and this time as well, he must be hoping to make it count - the platform cannot be bigger for anyone and especially for this junior ticket-checker in the Indian Railways.
