Lucky to be part of 2011 World Cup: Borren

Not sure of participation in future World Cups, the Netherlands skipper Peter Borren on Thursday said they were lucky to be part of the ongoing edition, where they got the chance to play at big stadiums with huge crowds in attendance.

"Normally we come here (India) on a shoe-string budget. We are not used to playing in big stadiums. When we play at home we normally don't play in front of too many people... maybe in front of two people. It's pretty special experience here. We are getting to experience different cultures having played in different parts of India and Bangladesh. We consider really lucky to be part of this tournament," Borren said.

"It is an experience we will not forget. We are lucky and privileged to have been here. We've been lucky to play in this World cup, the experience of playing at Chittagong with a passionate crowd, and also the Eden Gardens will be memories for us. It's a dream come true for all of us," he added.

The 27-year-old said the Irish were familiar foes and by winning against Ireland, who have earned a giant killing status, they would like to end their campaign on a high note. "Ireland has done well in the tournament, has been competitive, but if we go out there and win tomorrow, we will be making a statement. Ireland know us as much as we know them. We have faced each other many times. Hope for a good 100 overs, hoping to go out there and do well.

"I think we are pretty similar teams. We don't have a particularly good record against Ireland. I am looking for good play from everyone, not just guys who have been doing well," he said.

On dangerous Kevin O'Brien in the rival batting line-up, he said, "Kevin obviously is a good bat and has a good record, but he has not got a 50-ball 100 against us. There is nothing specific that we are looking to do against him. We have got him out before a few times, so that is not a concern." Borren said playing at Eden Gardens is like a dream come true and they would like to go with a win under their belt.

"It's not difficult to be motivated. We obviously have not had a win and hope to go home on a high note. There is a lot of excitement in the group for playing at the Eden Gardens in the World Cup, on the big stage. It is a dream come true."

"I think we did not quite take it to the opposition against Bangladesh, we had difficulty against their three left arm slow bowlers. We lost wickets at crucial times had run-outs and it affected us. Tomorrow, hopefully we will be playing on a pitch with more pace. We are not going to hold ourselves back, we will go hard at them," he said.

"Ryan performed in the first game at Bangalore and everyone contributed. He also played well against Bangladesh, but other guys have to perform. They are itching to get out there and prove point," he added.
