New York:
Three US Open chair umpires were dismissed from the tournament after an investigation revealed their improper handling of credentials at the Olympics.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) did not immediately suspend the officials but suggested to the US Open organizers that they should not be allowed to umpire during the second week.
"We supported the ITF's recommendation that the three officials in question be relieved of their duties following competition last Sunday," US Tennis Association spokesman Chris Widmaier said last night.
Widmaier did not disclose the identify of the chair umpires. (AP)
