Tsonga, Monfils register wins

Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga and Gael Monfils knocked out their more-fancied opponents to win through to the second round of the ATP Tour's Paris Masters on Monday.

Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga and Gael Monfils completed a good day for French tennis when they knocked out their more-fancied opponents to win through to the second round of the ATP Tour's Paris Masters on Monday. Both came from a set down to win, with Tsonga beating Croatia's Mario Ancic 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 and Monfils seeing off Swede Thomas Enqvist 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. These wins for Tsonga and Monfils followed up the earlier victory of Cyril Saulnier over Peru's Luis Horna. (AP)
