Taylor in form Sun and blue skies held out the promise of some quality tennis in the the third round of the Nasdaq-100 Open - a $3.45 million ATP in Key Biscane in Florida, USA. And the home crowd were not to be disappointed - Taylor Dent continuing his rise of form against the fourth seeded Argentinian Guillmero Coria. This year he has also beaten No. 2-ranked Lleyton Hewitt, No. 4 Marat Safin and No. 9 David Nalbandian. Dent, seeded 31st, used his serve-and-volley game to keep Coria on the defensive. He lost only four points on his first serve, never faced a break point, and won 37 points at the net. Coria struggles Coria meanwhile struggled with his serve on a cloudy, windy afternoon and hit double faults - including four to fall behind 4-3 in the second set. Coria tried drop shots hoping to disrupt his opponent's rhythm - Dent retrieved one with a sprint and angled his return crosscourt for a winner. The departure of Coria, the runner-up last year, left just one of the six highest-ranked players - No. 1 Roger Federer - in contention with four rounds still to go. The highest-seeded man left in one half of the draw is No. 13 Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia. Gaudio, Agassi advance While Coria was eliminated, fellow Argentine Gaston Gaudio won. The No. 7-seeded Gaudio beat No. 27 Sebastien Grosjean of France 6-2, 6-3. Also through is seventh seed Andre Agassi - he made equally light work of dispatching Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-2, 6-4 in what was a strong statement of his return to the top of the game. In the fourth round of the WTA event, Wimbledon champion Marai Sharapova cruised into the quarter-finals of the Nasdaq-100 Open with a 6-1 6-2 victory over Japan's Shinobu Asagoe. The Russian will next face either Australian Alicia Molik, the seventh seed, or Belgium's former world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne. World number two Amelie Mauresmo made slightly harder work of beating 16th seed Karolina Sprem of Croatia. The Frenchwoman won the rain-interrupted match 6-1, 7-5. (AP)
