Paris: Top seed Serena Williams easily moved into the final of the $585,000 Gaz de France Open on Saturday, crushing Greece's promising 20-year-old powerhouse Eleni Daniilidou 6-2, 6-0, in 46 minutes. Williams will now meet France's Amelie Mauresmo in Sunday's final. Mauresmo, playing her comeback tournament with zest after an injury layoff of three-and-a-half months, won her semifinal even faster than Williams, whitewashing her Russian opponent Elena Dementieva 6-0, 6-0 in 42 minutes. World No. 1 Williams took her opponent's serve five times but lost only six points on her own serve. She sealed victory coming in behind a serve and hitting a drive-volley forehand winner. "I was real comfortable on court today," Williams acknowledged. Williams has only lost one service game in three matches this week. Sunday will be Williams' third final in this tournament in three visits. She won her first career title in 1999 and lost in the 2000 final against French player Nathalie Tauziat, but was hampered in that match by a knee injury. (AP)
