Serena Williams, who was due to make her first trip to India is suffering from high temperature and flu and will not be competing in her first WTA tournament in India.
Williams made a big comeback this year by winning the first grand slam of the year, the Australian Open in January.
Her victory came after being out for most of the 2006 season due to injury.
She expressed her disappointment at having to miss the Bangalore Open but said that she hopes to experience Indian culture in the future.
