Sania wins Regione House tournament

Keeping the Indian flag afloat, tennis sensation Sania Mirza won the Regione House tournament in Compobasso, Itlay. Sania defeated Romania's Magda 6-3, 6-4 in the finals of the $10,000 tournament at Compobasso, Itlay. Down by 2-3 in the first set, Sania played some quality tennis and kept her nerve to win four games in a row to clinch the set 6-3 in 40 minutes. She had a shaky start in the second set and was trailing 1-4 at one stage. Pulling up her socks, the 17-year-old champion bridged the gap with some forceful returns and high serves. It took another 40 minutes for Sania to settle the issue at 6-4 and win the titles vanquishing Magda who played the qualifying round in US Open and Australian Open. (PTI)
