Sania Mirza Only Non-Cricketer in Top-10 of Most-Followed Indian Sportspersons on Twitter
With 2.21 followers on the micro-blogging site, Sania Mirza is the only woman sportsperson in the top-10 list, which is dominated by Virat Kohli.

Veteran Tennis star Sania Mirza is the only non-cricketer in the top-10 list of most followed Indian sportspersons on Twitter. The 28-year-old, who won the US Open mixed doubles event earlier this year, has 2.21 million followers. The list is dominated by Virat Kohli who recently surpassed the four-million mark.
At number seven, Sania is followed by cricketers Zaheer Khan (1732655), Gautam Gambhir (1643423) and Rohit Sharma (1586841). A good 2014 on the tennis court and special appearances on the ramp and in front of television cameras have helped her connect with a larger base of fans.
Off-field activities have worked wonders for Kohli too and his growing stature in Indian cricket is reflecting through his status in social media. Both his onfield and off-field - he is romantically linked with activities Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma - activities are closely followed.
According to a press release, Kohli now has more followers than Tendulkar and Dhoni who are second and third in the top-10 list.
Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh may not be in the current Indian team, but they retain their fan base. Sehwag is at No. 4 and Yuvraj is at 5. Another Indian discard, Gautam Gambhir, is at No. 9, one slot behind Zaheer Khan at No. 8.
