Sania back to winning ways

Sania Mirza beat Alona Bondarenko 6-2. 3-6. 6-3 to move into the second round of the DFS Classic in Birmingham.

New Delhi: After a first round exit in the French Open, Sania Mirza was back to her winning ways as she moved into the second round of the DFS Classic in Birmingham. Preparing for this month's Wimbledon tournament, the world number 41 fought a spirited Alona Bondarenko finally winning in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The 14th seed now plays America's Shenay Perry in the next round. Perry had defeated compatriot Jill Craybas on Monday in her first round match.
