Romania's Razvan Sabau beat Argentina's Mariano Zabaleta 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the opening match of the Palermo International clay-court tournament on Monday.

Palermo: Romania's Razvan Sabau beat Argentina's Mariano Zabaleta 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the opening match of the Palermo International clay-court tournament on Monday. The 74th-ranked Sabau, whose record is 6-6 this year, will play either defending champion Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic or Italy's Andreas Seppi in the second round. Spain's Oscar Hernandez beat Italy's Gianluca Naso 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-4 in Monday's other main draw match. Spain's David Ferrer, Tommy Robredo and Juan Carlos Ferrero are the tournament's top seeded players, with Berdych seeded fourth. (AP)
