Newport, Rhode Island:
Greg Rusedski won his first title since being cleared of doping charges in March when he beat Germany's Alexander Popp 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-2) in the final of the Hall of Fame Championship in Newport, Rhode Island on Sunday.
Sunday's final was his first since he won the Nottingham Open in June 2003.
The first set was a service stalemate as both enjoy powerful serves on grass.
Neither serve was broken and a tiebreak was needed. Rusedski hit a lunging backhand at the net that barely fell over, putting him ahead 6-5. He closed out the set with an ace.
The second set went the same way as the first with each player's serve dominating and neither could achieve a break.
This time the unseeded Rusedski went up 6-1 in the tie-break, and won the championship when Popp hit a backhand return into the net.
The 30-year-old Briton had previously won in Newport 11 years ago to claim the first of his 14 career titles. (AP)
