Rabat:
Meghann Shaughnessy of the United States and Martina Sucha of Slovakia will play for their first title in years on the slow red clay at the Grand Prix SAR.
In Saturday's semifinals, Shaughnessy beat Yan Zi of China 6-0, 6-2, and Sucha defeated Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-3, 6-2.
Unseeded Shaughnessy will appear in her eighth career final. She's won three, at 2000 Shanghai, 2001 Quebec City and 2003 Canberra. Her previous final was at Memphis last year.
After starting the year without a win in five straight tournaments, the former world No. 11 has won 13 of her last 19 matches.
Her and eighth-seeded Sucha will meet for the first time in Sunday's final. Sucha will try to win her third WTA Tour title from six finals.
Her previous championships were at 2002 Hobart and 2004 Quebec City. Until this week, Sucha hadn't won consecutive matches on tour this year. (AP)
