Paradorn wins 2nd round at Indianapolis
Paradorn Srichaphan beat Amer Delic 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 in a second round match at the 600,000-dollar ATP hardcourt tournament in Indianapolis.

Second seed Paradorn Srichaphan fended off two match points in the second set before sending amateur Amer Delic packing 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (7/3), 6-1 in a second round match at the 600,000-dollar ATP hardcourt tournament. The 11th-ranked Paradorn was extremely impressed with the lightning fast serve of Delic, the recent US collegiate singles champion, who consistently hit speeds of over 130 mph with his serve during the one hour, 52 minute match. "His serve is huge," Paradorn said after waltzing through the third set. "He played great, great tennis. His serve is just unbelievable". By virtue of a hard fought 3-6, 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/4) second round win, Scott Draper of Australia won his first match in nine outings against Greg Rusedski to end the Briton's defence of the title. Frenchmen Nicolas Thomann and Gregory Carraz scored second round upsets. Thomann upset eighth seed Hyung-Taik Lee of Korea 6-4, 7-5 and Carraz struggled to a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7/5) win over 15th-seeded Kenneth Carlsen of Denmark. In other matches, fourth seed Yevgeny Kafelnikov won a 7-5, 6-3 match over Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia and Ivo Hueberger of Switzerland upset 11th seed Mario Ancic 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.
