Buenos Aires:
Top seed Carlos Moya cruised through to the quarterfinals of the Buenos Aires Open Wednesday, thanks to a straight sets victory over Juan Monaco.
Carlos Moya's victory over Juan Monaco was certainly expected. He needed just 72 minutes to defeat the Argentine, 6-1, 6-2.
The top seed won the first of his 18 ATP singles titles at this event, 10 years ago.
The Spaniard looks well set to repeat that feat, judging by the way he disposed of Juan Monaco.
Canas crashes out
Much more was expected of Monaco's compatriot, Guillermo Canas. But the third seed crashed out after being beaten 6-4, 6-3 by Spain's Alberto Martin.
Canas started well - but lost his way - and his temper. At the end of the first, he was given an official warning for twice throwing his racket to the ground.
The 28 year-old enjoyed the best season of his career last year, claiming three titles along the way. (AP)
