The first round of the Stella Artois tennis championship from Queen's Club in London produced several early upsets on Monday.

In the first match of the tournament, Belarusian double's star Max Mirnyi claimed a surprise 6-3, 6-3 win over 14th seed Fernando Verdasco, setting up a second round clash with either Gael Monfils or Igor Andreev.

Great British hope Alex Bogdanovic set up a mouth-watering all-British second round clash with Jamie Baker after taking a 6-4, 6-4 win over world number 42 Hyung Taik Lee.

Former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson is also a man with time on his hands after suffering an unexpected 6-2, 6-4 defeat against 18-year-old Argentinean Juan Martin del Potro.
