Philadelphia:
Top seed Amelie Mauresmo came from a set down to beat Russia's Vera Zvonareva and win the Advanta Championship title in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Mauresmo dominated the final two sets to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to successfully defend the title she won a year ago.
After top seed Amelie Mauresmo and sixth seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva shared the first two sets, the Philadelphia crowd prepared themselves for a thrilling decider.
Sadly for the spectators, the thrilling decider never arrived, but they were able to witness some spectacular tennis, particularly from Mauresmo.
It was the Frenchwoman's fifth title of the year and the 15th of her career. It also improved her record against Zvonareva to 5-0.
Mauresmo, who won the Linz Open a week ago, will hope to maintain her sparkling form at next week's season-ending WTA championships in Los Angeles.
Zvonareva will also make the trip for the lucrative event, having secured her place in the elite eight-player field earlier in the week. (AP)
