Miami:

World number one Justine Henin will play in her first final at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, following her semi-final win over Russian Anna Chakvetadze on Thursday (29/03).

Second seed Henin, who has lost just one of her 16 matches this season, will play either three-time champion Serena Williams of the U.S.A. or 14th-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer in the final.

In the men's quarter-finals, Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic made the last four with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina.

In the first of the ladies semi-finals at the Sony Ericsson Open Open in Miami, world number one Justine Henin took on Russian Anna Chakvetadze for a coveted place in the final.

Top form

Henin arrived in Miami on top form after back-to-back victories in Dubai and Doha and her class showed through early on as she overwhelmed her opponent from the outset.

Chakvetadze, ranked 11th in the women's singles game, was little match for Henin in the first as the Belgian powerhouse took it 6-2 in just 33 minutes.

There was little respite for the Russian as Henin broke the ninth seed at the start of the second set.
Chakvetadze tried to hang on in the final moments and played her best tennis of the match.

However Henin, who has lost just one of her 16 matches this season, progressed to the final for the first time after securing a 6-2, 6-3 win.

Henin will either meet three-time champion Serena Williams or 14th seed Shahar Peer in the final, with the prospect of a match against the three-time champion (Williams) a mouth-watering prospect.

Ljubicic in semi-final

Elsewhere, seventh seed Ivan Ljubicic booked his place in the semi-finals of the Miami Masters with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina.

The win never looked out of reach for Ljubicic, who is no stranger to the big stage in Miami, the 28-year-old lost last year to Roger Federer in the final and will be hoping he can go all the way this time.

Croatia's Ljubicic will face either Spanish sixth seed Tommy Robredo or Roger Federer's conqueror, Guillermo Canas of Argentina, in the last four.

Britain's Andy Murray will take on fellow 19-year-old Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the other men's semi-final.
