Memphis: Tommy Haas routed Sam Querrey 6-2, 6-2 in 44 minutes in Friday's quarterfinals and stayed on track to defend his title and win a third Regions Morgan Keegan Championships crown. Top-seeded Andy Roddick fired 18 aces to overcome Lu Yen-hsun of Taiwan 6-4, 7-6 (7). Lu squandered a set point in the tiebreaker with his seventh double fault. Roddick will play third-seeded Andy Murray in Saturday's semifinals, after the 19-year-old Scot defeated Stefan Koubek of Austria 6-3, 6-2 for his eighth straight victory. "I feel like these are the sort of runs I need to go on to prove to people I can go deep in the slams and keep up play for two weeks. I haven't done that before, and I hope I can do it now," Murray said. Murray beat Roddick last week en route to successfully defending his title in San Jose, California. Second-seeded Haas, the Memphis champion in 1999 and 2006, didn't face a break point in subduing American wild card Querrey for the second time this month. Querrey was appearing in his first ATP quarterfinal. Haas' second semifinal of the year after the Australian Open will be against fourth-seeded Mardy Fish, who advanced when Russian qualifier Teimuraz Gabashvili retired with a stomach illness while trailing 6-2, 4-1. By then, Fish had hit 11 aces and won all 19 of the first serves he put in. "I didn't know that he was sick or anything," Fish said. "It didn't really look to be that way in the first set. The second, all of a sudden he called the trainer. I felt I had the match pretty much in my grasp though. "He called the trainer at 3-0, I just assumed it was a frustration trainer call more than anything." Meanwhile, women's top seed Shahar Peer took advantage of eight double faults by unseeded Meilen Tu to beat the American 6-4, 7-5 and reach the Cellular South Cup final. Rising star Peer will play in her fourth career final, having won the previous three last year at Pattaya City, Prague and Istanbul. The 19-year-old Israeli will meet either five-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams or Romanian qualifier Ioana Raluca Olaru.
