Paris:
Roger Federer on Friday backed Rafael Nadal to defeat Novak Djokovic in Sunday's French Open final and claim a historic seventh Roland Garros title.
"My pick is not a surprising one. I obviously pick Rafa. I think he's the overwhelming favourite," said Federer, after his 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 defeat to world number one Djokovic in the semi-finals.
Djokovic needs to win on Sunday to become just the third man to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time.
Victory for Nadal, who reached his seventh Paris final with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win over compatriot David Ferrer, will make him the first man to win a seventh French Open.
