Brussels, Belgium: The glory days of Boris Becker and Michael Stich are long gone. Bearing Germany's hopes of reaching its first Davis Cup semifinal in a dozen years is Tommy Haas.

Haas will have to fight through on dirt - his least favored surface - when Germany plays Belgium in a quarterfinal before 4,000 partisan fans in Ostend.
