Chennai Open: Peya/Phau in quarterfinals
The fourth seeded combine of Alexander Peya and Bjorn Phau scored a hard fought victory to enter the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open on Wednesday.

Chennai: The fourth seeded combine of Alexander Peya and Bjorn Phau scored a hard fought victory to enter the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open ATP tournament on Wednesday. Peya and Phau come from behind to oust the unseeded duo of James Auckland of Great Britain and Stephen Huss of Australia 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. Also lucky loser pair of Paradorn Srichaphan and S Ratwatana carved out a 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 win over David Skoch and Tomas Zib (CZE) Srichaphan and Ratwatana entered the main draw as lucky losers after Fabrice Santoro of France, who was to partner compatriot Oiliver Patience in the first round match this evening, pulled out due to back pain suffered during a singles match on Tuesday. In the quarterfinals, the Thai pair meets the wild card Spanish combine of Rafael Nadal, winner of the doubles title here in 2004 with Tommy Robredo and Bartolome Salva-Vidal, while Peya and Phau will play the Chech-German duo of Tomas Cibulec and Rainer Schueffier. In another doubles first round match on Wednesday, the Belgian pair of Xaiver Mallisse and Dick Norman defeated Davide Sanguinetti (Italy) and Alexander Waske (Germany) 4-6, 6-1, 1-0(7). Earlier in the day, Mallse won his singles second round match against Stefano Galvani of Italy.
