The Sunfeast Open will be held in Kolkata from September 19-25. The official logo of the US$ 170,000 tournament was unveiled by Mahesh Bhupathi in Bangalore today. Some of the top women players in the world will converge on Kolkata for the Sunfeast Open. Mahesh Bhupathi's Globosport is the tournament promoter and he gives Sania Mirza a good chance at the tournament. "We didn't give her too much of a chance to win in Hyderabad earlier this year but she came out with flying colours, so I am sure being in India with crowd support she would be one of the favourites. So I don't think we can rule her out winning the event. The more events we run, the more exposure we give our youngsters and hopefully three or four years down the line, we'll have a lot of women in the top 100," said Mahesh Bhupathi, MD, Globosport. Focus on women The event will be held at the Netaji indoor stadium on a synthetic surface to be brought in from Spain a€" the first indoor event for women to be held in the country a€" and it will be shown live. "Why are we going to show the Sunfeast Open live? The position of women's tennis - both in India and around the world, clearly it is growing year by year in glamour and quality. It is becoming a more attractive proposition by the day. And in India we obviously have a huge prospect in Sania Mirza - someone we are certainly following very closely and what to see more of," said Peter Hutton, VP Programming, Ten Sports. There will be 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams seen in action at the event but names will only be announced after Wimbledon.
