Tenth-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has lost in the first round of the French Open.
Azarenka, who reached the quarterfinals last year, lost 6-1, 6-2 to Gisela Dulko of Argentina on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Dulko broke Azarenka five times and closed out the match in one hour and 12 minutes with a forehand winner.
Dulko, whose best result at the French Open was reaching the fourth round in 2006, secured her first victory after losing four straight opening matches.
Earlier this month, Azarenka had to retire in Madrid with a thigh injury.
