Defending champion Francesca Schiavone had another easy day at the French Open, advancing to the third round with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Vesna Dolonts on Wednesday.
The 101st-ranked Dolonts broke to open before Schiavone, who last year became the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam singles title, won 11 games in a row.
Schiavone routed Melanie Oudin of the United States 6-2, 6-0 in the first round and will next play No. 29 Peng Shuai.
The fifth-seeded Schiavone posted her best result of the season last week when she reached the semifinals at the Brussels Open.
