Cincinnati, Ohio:
Andre Agassi won his first title for over a year on Sunday as the number 11 seed beat Australis's Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the final of the Cincinnati Masters Series event in Ohio, USA. The 34-year-old veteran, who put out the number two seed Andy Roddick on Saturday, completed his 59th career victory. Good start When the American took the first set 6-3 here, the title appeared to be his. However, Hewitt rallied and broke Agassi's serve in the eighth game of the second set, holding his own serve a game later to square the match at one set all. The deciding set hinged on a solitary break of serve in the fourth game, giving Agassi a 3-1 lead and an initiative he was not to relinquish. Erratic serving Helped in no small measure by Hewitt's erratic serving, Agassi never allowed the Australian to settle into his powerful baseline game. Eventually the match was brought to an end by Hewitt's fifth double fault of the match and a third break on his serve. Agassi ended a 16-month period without a title with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory. The new Cincinnati Masters champion also became the oldest winner on the ATP Tour since his compatriot Jimmy Connors won consecutive titles at the age of 37 in 1989.
