Rice holds off Coventry to win women's 400 IM

Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe also went under the previous mark of 4:31.12, set by American Katie Hoff at the U.S. Olympic trials, but Coventry's time of 4:29.89 was only good enough for a silver.
Hoff settled for the bronze in 4:31.71.
