UP's Ashish, Tripura's Dipa win gold in gymnastics
Ashish Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Tripura's Dipa Karmakar won the gold medals in men and women's all round individual gymnastics competitions of the 34th National Games at Khelgaon on Saturday.

Ashish Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Tripura's Dipa Karmakar won the gold medals in men and women's all round individual gymnastics competitions of the 34th National Games at Khelgaon here on Saturday.
Kumar notched up 83.95 points take the yellow metal, leaving behind SSCB's Rakesh Patra for the silver. Patra scored 79.80 points.
Kumar's state-mate Aditya Singh Rana (76.85) secured the bronze medal in the main field of nine gymnasts. Tripura opened their gold count when Karmakar secured maximum points in the women's individual gymnastics competition.
Punjab's Minakshi and Maharashtra's Vandita Rawat took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
On Friday, the SSCB men had won gold in the team competition and Andhra Pradesh had to satisfy with the bronze.
Continuing their brilliant performance, Maharashtra women won the Artistic Gymnastics team competitions late on Friday.
Maharashtra, who scored 219.45 points to edge past West Bengal (211.95 points) to finish at the top, have clinched seven gold so far in the Gymnastic competitions. They have two silvers and four bronze medals in their kitty.
With 188.25 points, Andhra Pradesh girls took the bronze. On Thursday, Maharashtra had won six gold medals in the Rhythmic gymnastics.
