Sushil Kumar reveals Russians offered him cash to throw world wrestling final
According to reports, India's double Olympic medal winner claims he was offered crores.

The ghost of fixing is not just rampant in cricket. India's only sportsperson to win two back-to-back medals in Olympics Sushil Kumar has revealed that he was asked to lose the 2010 world wrestling championship final bout in return for cash in Moscow. According to a report in the Times of India on Friday, Sushil says a member of his support staff said his Russian opponent Alan Gogayev "wanted to talk about the bout," just before the final. (Related read: Indian official says bribing offers not uncommon in wrestling)
"When he explained the whole thing, I was aghast," Sushil said. Apparently a few crores were on offer but Sushil refused to bite the bait and defeated the Russian 3-1. (Read: I complained about Moscow fixing episode, no one took it seriously: Sushil Kumar)

"It was not a matter of two or four crores. It was a matter of honour," Sushil told the paper.

Apart from the bronze in 2008 Beijing Olympics and the silver in 2012 London Games, Sushil won the gold medal in Commonwealth and Asian Games in 2010.
