Karnataka Announce Cash Rewards for Asian Games Medallists
Speaking at a reception accorded to gold medalist M R Poovamma in Mangalore on Tuesday, Karnataka Sports Minister Abhayachandra Jain said Rs 7 lakh would be given to silver medalists and Rs 5 lakh to bronze medalists at the Games. Poovamma will get Rs 10 lakh for her gold.

Mangalore:
Karnataka Government has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for state athletes who won gold medals at the recently held Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Speaking at a reception accorded to gold medalist M R Poovamma at the city airport here Tuesday, state Sports Minister Abhayachandra Jain said Rs 7 lakh would be given to silver medalists and Rs 5 lakh to bronze medalists at the Games.
Poovamma had bagged gold in 400 m rally and bronze in the 400 m race.

The reception at the airport was arranged by the district athletic association and the district administration.
Forests Minister and District in-charge B Ramanath Rai, Manglaore South MLA J R Lobo and Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim were present on the occasion.
