About Old Trafford in Manchester
More famously known as 'Theatre of Dreams,' this stadium is the home ground of Manchester United of the English Premier League.
It is the second-biggest soccer ground in England and one of the most popular ones. With a seating capacity of over 75, 000, this venue is also expected to be the most visited during the Olympic Games. A history of tradition and sporting culture has already left a deep impression here and the Olympic Games will continue to serve in having Old Trafford as a place fans and players remember as an experience.
In 2006,a massive expansion project was undertaken here. This after the first completed stadium was unveiled in 1909. 8000 seats were added to this venue and Old Trafford celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010 amidst huge fan-fare in all of its six stands. The days of the World War were also remembered while several legends of the sport - some of whom already have their statues and memorials here - were fondly paid tribute to.
During the Games, it will host nine soccer matches, including one men's and women's semifinals.
