About Hadleigh Farm
Owned by the Salvation Army, Hadleigh Farm covers a 550-acre site that will host mountain cycling on a newly constructed bike course located to the east of London in Essex.
The site includes grassland and woodland, and the terrain is hilly with open grassland covered by low shrubbery. The course is set against the backdrop of the 700-year-old ruins of Hadleigh Castle.
This venue is seen as challenging with International Cycling Union rejecting the earlier chosen venue - Weald Country Park - as it was not fit for hosting an event for the standards that international participants ought to be tested with.
While there was marginal concerns about connectivity due to narrow roads leading up to it, the fact that it is just five miles from London Southend Airport has cleared all doubts.
