Earls Court is located in west London and hosts hundreds of events each year ranging from exhibitions and conferences to live music, but during the Olympics it will be transformed into a volleyball arena.
Opened in 1937 and with a capacity of 19,000, Earls Court was the site of boxing preliminaries, wrestling, weightlifting and gymnastics during the 1948 Games.
For the 2012 Games, close to 15,000 spectators can witness the volleyball matches but the main reason for its selection was to keep costs down.
There have been several questions raised about its future after the Games with speculation suggesting that the new owners want to convert this area into a residential project.
