The verdict is out and it is Vijender Singh who wins hands down. While the Indian boxer went out of the London Olympics on Monday, he became the most searched athlete in India according to a Google study of searches in the last seven days.
While Gagan Narang, Vijay Kumar and Saina Nehwal were topping the charts earlier, the pugilist has come up and taken the lead against the likes of the Olympic bronze medal winning shooter from Haryana and fellow boxer MC Mary Kom.
Netizens sure have been getting their fill of the boxer on the web, despite him eventually bowing out after a tough fight.
The study was conducted using 'Google Insights for Search' in the last 7 days comparing between keywords of Olympic medal contenders 'Gagan Narang', 'Mary Kom' and 'Vijender Singh'.
The middle-weight boxer has been in the lead in the last seven days and a region-wise analysis shows surfers in New Delhi are most interested in finding out about him, followed by those in Karnataka and West Bengal.
