Dada does it again!

If there was ever a crown for the King of Comebacks, Sourav Ganguly would have won it hands down. Yes, he's back, once again!
As a Ganguly fan, it hurt when he was not retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders. It sent a bad message for everyone. That he had increased his base price before the auction left me, err, hopeless. He was bought by none at the auction. Heartbroken. I cursed all the owners no lesser than I was upset with my childhood hero for his prolonged silence. "Why can't he simply say he's done with this thing called 'IPL'?"
Then came in the news that he might become the KKR's mentor. "What crap!" was the reaction. And then there was this buzz about him joining the Kochi Tuskers Kerala. God, after KKR, he's moving to KTK? He surely isn't following Ekta Kapoor's fixation with the 'K', is he? But as it turned out, he wasn't joining them either.
"Alright then, nobody wants him? Fine! He doesn't need you people either". And followed a long sighhhhh!
"Dada, please say you're no more interested in the IPL, please," the fan in me pleaded silently. It was becoming painful, this humiliation, for all his fans. To be honest after one point this fan got angry with him too.
But walking out silently has never been Ganguly's style. He walks out on his terms. He loves to make his critics eat their words. He did it when he bowed out of the international scene.
So I consider it was my fault that I gave up on him. I shouldn't have. We are talking about Ganguly here after all.
He's back in the IPL to represent Sahara's Pune Warriors. I don't complain, seriously. I have my favourites - Dada and Yuvraj - playing in the same team. True, they haven't really done well in this IPL, but I have my reasons to support them. Also getting a chance to see Dada grace the cricket pitch means a lot for me and his many fans. Yuvraj matured as a player under Ganguly's captaincy and now his experience will help Yuvraj grow as a captain, hopefully.
It felt good watching him train soon after he joined the Warriors before their match against the Mumbai Indians. Though he did not play that match, the desperation to get back on the field and do well was very much evident on his face while training.
So it might sound a little over the top and overwhelming, but for me and all Ganguly fans the IPL begins now. So what if it's almost over for the Pune Warriors, Ganguly needs just one game to make a statement. And I am waiting for it with fingers, eyes, nose and toes crossed!
