Shubman Gill is one rising superstar in Indian cricket that everyone has an eye on. He is a constant feature in all formats for the Indian cricket team and played in the ODI World Cup 2023 too. He is also the captain of the Gujarat Titans. Last year, in the IPL 2023, Gill had a stellar season with a tally of 890 runs in 17 matches including three centuries and four fifties. One of his tons came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In that match, GT chased down a target of 198 in 19.1 overs.Â
Shubman Gill scored 104 off 52 balls and was involved in a 71-ball 123-run stand with Vijay Shankar (53, 35b). Â Â
"I think this is the most hated partnership in the IPL (laughs with Vijay Shankar). Even in the Indian team, Siraj (who plays for RCB) told me that they don't talk about my innings as much as they do about Vijay. He was playing anything," Shubman Gill said in a video posted by Jio Cinema.
Gill is often known to make witty remarks.Â
The youngster's comment during an interaction with famous singer Ed Sheeran left the social media in splits. During the conversation, Ed Sheeran came to know that Gill played for a cricket franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan. Sheeran replied that he was meeting SRK later for dinner and Gill was quick to say - "Ask him why did they not retain me?". It was a light moment that has gone viral on social media.
The singer Also asked, "Do You have a girlfriend?" The player replied "No". Sheeran then looked at the camera and said: "On the Market". Then he went on to show Gill a photo of some cricketers that was apparently sent by a friend of  the singer's wife.
However, Gill lost his cool on Wednesday during GT's match against RR in the IPL 2024. There was one umpire's decision that clearly miffed Shubman Gill as he could be seen chatting animatedly with the official. The incident happened in the 17th over bowled by GT's Mohit Sharma.
The final delivery of the over was given wide as Gill went upstairs for DRS. In that delivery, batter Sanju Samson moved a little outside off while trying to play. The third umpire gave it a fair delivery at first and then called it a wide. That decision completely frustrated Gill and he had a long animated chat with umpire Vinod Seshan. But the wide call stayed on.
