Gujarat Titans have registered a narrow 6-run win over Mumbai Indians in a thrilling game in Ahmedabad. Umesh Yadav conceded a single on the fifth ball before giving away only a single off the last ball. That is a terrific victory for GT!

Hardik Pandya started the over with a six and a four before two wickets fell for Mumbai Indians in 2 balls. And now Gujarat Titans are in the driving seat.

Gerald Coetzee is OUT! Mumbai Indians need 19 runs in 6 balls.

Another wicket for GT. Spencer Johnson was hit for a six by Tilak Varma on the first ball of the over but he dismissed the batter on the very next ball. What a match this is turning out to be! Mumbai Indians need 21 runs in 10 balls.

Mohit Sharma has dismissed Tim David after troubling the batter a lot and Mumbai Indians now need 27 runs in 12 balls.

Only three runs came off the final over of Rashid Khan and that sees Mumbai Indians needing 36 runs in 18 balls. Gujarat Titans are back in the game. Rashid ends his spell with figures of 0/23 in four overs. 

Dewald Brevis is out and Gujarat Titans are back in the game. Mumbai Indians need 40 runs in 25 balls.

MI 129/4 (15.5)

Only five runs came off the Rashid Khan's third over and Mumbai Indians now need 43 runs in 30 balls. With a lot batting firepower still left, one would back MI to comfortably win this game until GT do some magic.

The 77-run partnership between Rohit and Brevis has been broken by Sai Kishore. Rohit wanted to play a sweep shot on it but missed it completely. The ball struck him right in front of the stumps and umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger. Rohit still decided to go upstairs but could not save himself. He departed for 43 off 29 balls.

Sai Kishore was bowling really well to Dewald Brevis with good length deliveries angling into the batter. But on the fifth ball, the spinner erred in his length was bowling it fuller outside off stump. Brevis boasted his class by slamming the ball over extra cover for a six. Mumbai Indians need 72 runs in 54 balls.

Not a good IPL debut for Spencer Johnson with the ball. The spinners had caused a bit of worry to Mumbai Indians' batters Rohit Sharma and Dewalad Brevis but once the duo got pace, their eyes lit up. First Brevis slammed a six and then Rohit smashed two fours to make it a 17-run over.

This is what you call experience. Sai Kishore was bowling slower ones to keep Dewald Brevis in check. Rohit spotted this so when he got the strike after the second ball of the over, he played a reverse sweep to score a boundary, beating the short third man. 7 runs came off the over. Mumbai Indians need 98 runs in 66 balls.

MI 71/2 (9)

Pressure was piling on Brevis and he has now played a big shot for a six. Rashid Khan gave some flight and Brewis tonked him over the long-off fielder for a biggie. This will give some relief to Brevis, who was strike at a rate less than 100 before this six.

Sai Kishore has started with a three-run over. Dewald Brevis played five of the balls and scored two singles off it. Mumbai Indians need 114 runs in 78 balls.

MI 55/2 (7)

A fuller ball from Rashid Khan on the fourth delivery of the over and that narrowly missed the fielder at backward square leg and ran away for a four. It was an economical start from Rashid as he conceded only 6 runs in the over. Mumbai Indians need 117 runs in 84 balls. 

MI 52/2 (6)

Only six runs came off Azmatullah Omarzai's third over. Mumbai Indians are scoring at 9.2. They need 123 runs in 90 balls. While the asking rate is only 8.2, they have lost two wickets. This match hangs in balance at the moment.

As easy as you like it. A fuller delivery from Umesh Yadav and Rohit Sharma flicked it away for a six to wide of long-on. A lot of dew has arrived and the defence of 168/6 won't be that easy for Gujarat Titans, especially against a batting like Mumbai Indians'.

MI 40/2 (3.4)

Naman Dhir was having a good debut with the bat but Azmatullah Omarzai has removed him. Dhir slammed the bowler for three fours and a six in the over before losing his wicket to an LBW. The ground umpire was unconvinced with the appeal and GT rightly decided to go upstairs. Ball tracking suggested that it would have hit the middle stump.

An early wicket for Gujarat Titans. Ishan Kishan is gone! Azmatullah Omarzai gets him as the batter edged the ball good length ball to wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. GT are off to a really good start here in Ahmedabad.

Mumbai Indians have started the chase of 169 runs with Ishan Kishan in the crease and Rohit Sharma at the other end. Omarzai is bowling the first over for GT. Here we go -

Gujarat Titans have posted a decent total of 168/6 on the board. Sai Sudharsan top scored in their innings with 45 off 39 balls. Mumbai Indians' Jasprit Bumrah should get the credit of restricting GT to the score. It is now time for the MI batters to show their class.

Rahul Tewatia is out on the first ball of the over and that is a superb catch from Naman Dhir on the leg side that made it possible. It was a full toss but Tewatia failed to put it in gap. Dhir ran forward and then jumped brilliantly to take the catch at deep backward square leg.

Jasprit Bumrah concedes 7 runs off his final over and ends his quota of four overs with figures of 3 for 14. That's just a brilliant spell from the right-arm pacer. He never let any GT batter dominate him with outfoxing them regularly. Last six balls to go in the GT innings. Gerald Coetzee to bowl it. Here we go!

Another one for Bumrah. The right-arm pacer has struck for the second time in this over and third time in the game. Mumbai Indians are in the driving seat now as Sai Sudharsan is the latest one to depart. He handed a catch to Tilak Varma around backward square leg.

Oh, Bumrah, you beauty! Jasprit Bumrah has outfoxed David Miller with a slower ball. The batter was not ready for it as Bumrah bowled it around 124 kmph and that saw Miller mistiming the shot. Hardik Pandya took the catch near mid-off.  

A dog halted the play for short periods not once but twice during the 15th over bowled by Hardik Pandya. Meanwhile, 10 runs came off the over. Gujarat Titans have made a good recovery and they should aim a total of over 180. 

Eight runs came off the second over of Coetzee. Gujarat Titans are scoring at a decent rate of 8.14. Sai Sudharsan has held one end tight and he needs to stay there if Gujarat wish to post a good total against MI. David Miller is at the other end and GT must be hoping a good show from him as well. Six more overs to go. 

Maiden IPL wicket for Gerald Coetzee, who has made his debut in the tournament tonight! Azmatullah Omarzai was beaten by pace as he hit the ball high in the air before Tilak Varma took the catch at backward square leg. Omarzai is out for 17 off 11 balls. 

This was a poor ball from Piyush Chawla and Sai Sudharsan has given it a perfect treatment. He slog-swept it over the backward square leg fielder for a six. Chawla has to be good with his line and length at this point in time as GT are looking to shift gears.

Shubman Gill is gone and Gujarat Titans are in some real trouble here in Ahmedabad. A volley with flight and Gill decided to go downtown by jumping out of his crease. But he failed to clear Rohit Sharma at long-on. Gill departs for 31 off 22. 

GT 64/2 (7.4)

It could be seen as a shared powerplay as Gujarat Titans scored 47 runs but lost the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha. Hardik was late in bringing Bumrah into the attack and that saw GT taking advantage of it. But once Bumrah came to bowl in the fourth over of the innings, MI have managed to make a mini comeback.

Bumrah provides Mumbai Indians the first breakthrough. Cometh the hour cometh the man for MI. How many times we have seen Bumrah doing this. MI did start to feel a bit of pressure after GT got off to a flying start and here comes Bumrah to the rescue of the five-time champions with a toe-crushing yorker. Wriddhiman Saha (19 off 15) missed the ball that rattled his stumps. 

Hardik Pandya concedes 9 runs in his second over in the game. He has given away a total of 20 runs so far in his first two overs. This prompts the captain to give Jasprit Bumrah the next over. Let's see how he fares.

That was turning out to be a really good over for MI but Shubman Gill spoiled that with a terrific four off the last ball. Debutant pacer Luke Wood bowled a good length delivery and Gill punched it from the backfoot for a four.

11 runs come off the first over of Hardik Pandya. He erred in his line twice and paid the price of it. First, it was Saha who slammed a four, then it was Gill. The GT captain hit the four through  the fine leg fence.

Hardik Pandya bowls the first ball of the game and Wriddhiman Saha slams it away for a four. It was a short ball and Saha hit it past the point and backward point fielders for a four.

The return of trump card Rashid Khan from a back surgery is a massive boost for Titans. The Afghanistan spinner made his comeback in the series against Ireland last week. Among the new joinees, left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson and Azmatullah Omarazai, will be looking to make a mark in the world's biggest T20 league.

Gujarat Titans are bound to miss the services of Mohammed Shami, who recently underwent a surgery to repair Achillies tendon and will be back only in the second half of the year.

On the Titans' front, Gill has been tasked to ensure that the team maintains the remarkable consistency it showed in its first two seasons. Gill could be one of the future leaders for India but for that to happen, he must prove himself on the IPL stage. He was the leading run-getter last season and the franchise would be hoping that captaincy doesn't impact his batting in anyway.

Besides Pandya, Mohammad Nabi and Romario Shepherd are the other quality all-round options Mumbai possess. Domestic players like Akash Madhwal and Nehal Wadhera will be looking to build on their performances of the previous season.

Ishan Kishan's performance will be scrutinised and the player will have a point to prove after losing his BCCI central contract for defying the Board's diktat on domestic cricket. The southpaw, who missed the entire Test series against England, preferred to train on his own for the IPL and did not turn for his state side Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. The fight for the wicket-keeper batter's slot in the World Cup squad will be intense and Kishan needs to be at the top of his game over the next two months.

Having led Mumbai to as many as five IPL titles, India skipper Rohit will be turning up as a player this season and would be expected to hit top form ahead of the ICC event in June. Another player whose performance will be scrutinised is Ishan Kishan, who will have a point to prove after losing his BCCI central contract for defying the Board's diktat on domestic cricket.

Mumbai have been grappling with fitness issues to their key players including star batter Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to get fitness clearance from NCA. Left-arm pacers Jason Behrendorff and Dilshan Madushanka are already ruled out of the IPL while new recruit Gerald Coetzee, nursing a groin injury, might not be available for the first few games.

The tournament also marks Pandya's comeback from a 'freak' ankle injury he picked up in the middle of the ODI World Cup in October. The form of the injury-prone all-rounder with both bat and ball will be closely tracked in the tournament that precedes the T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean. With Pandya moving on to the other side, Titans will be led by Shubman Gill, who assumes the responsibility with very little captaincy experience.
