India's superstar Amitabh Bachchan and pop sensation Katy Perry had a relatively exciting Tuesday, hours before the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League in Chennai.

While Bachchan posted a picture of the rehearsal on his account, Perry said she had a nice long sleep after a hearty Indian meal. "At rehearsal for IPL ... looking grand ... can hardly spot anyone," wrote Bachchan who, according to his tweets, is taking pain killers for some discomfort. "The pain killer works ! Killed everything else , but the pain," he wrote in another post.

Bachchan even had a visitor in Rajnikanth and said it was great to spend time with him. "Rajnikant pays me visit in my room ! Looks recovered from his recent illness..thank God ! Always a delight to spend time with him."

Perry had not been in the best of health either, battling a jet lag. She however, was as excited as Bachchan and said she was enjoying Indian food. "After what felt like longest flight ever I'm finally here! Honored 2 play CHENNAI 2morrow! This is my 1ST performance in INDIA,"she wrote on Tuesday and followed it up with her plans in the run-up to the opening ceremony. "Almost fell asleep in my curry last night, no joke. Woke up feeling SO much better after a fresh meditate...feels appropriate being in INDIA." Perry was later welcomed by IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla.

Bachchan began proceedings in the evening with a poem based on cricket.
