India batter Shubman Gill looked destined to reach his 4th Test century when a terrible mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav cost him his wicket. With India nearing a 400-run lead against England on Day 4 of the third Test in Rajkot, Gill remained central to the hosts' plan. However, batting on 91, the young star fell to a poor call in the middle and lost his wicket, just 9 runs shy of the triple-digit score. Gill was understandably disappointed seeing himself depart so close to a century.
Gill did put in a desperate dive to reach the other end of the pitch but was found inches short of making his ground. The batter sank, reflecting on the decision that prompted him to run for a single. Shaking his head in disappointment, Gill even slammed his bat in frustration. Here's the video:

Though Gill failed to convert his brilliant knock into a hundred, the Indian team did receive a big boost on Sunday as veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin returned to the squad for the final two days of the match. Ashwin had returned home due to a family emergency after the second day's play in Rajkot.Â
He gave the third day's play a miss entirely but returned to rejoin his teammates on Day 4.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the return of Ravichandran Ashwin to the squad after a brief absence due to a family emergency. Ashwin had to temporarily withdraw from the squad after Day 2 of the 3rd Test in Rajkot to attend to a family emergency," the board said in a release.
"Both R Ashwin and the team management are pleased to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute towards the team's cause in the ongoing Test match," the statement added.
