Chasing 231 on Day 4, India started off well but suddenly lost many wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin and KS Bharat tried to anchor the innings but could not hold the fort. Hartley scalped seven while Joe Root and Jack Leach took one wicket each. With this win, England have taken 1-0 lead over India in the five-match seriesEarlier in the day, Ollie Pope scored 196 runs for India and gave them a lead by 230 runs.
