Ace Indian women golfer Sharmila Nicollet will make her maiden visit to the city after her path-breaking effort of qualifying for the Ladies European Tour last week in Spain.
Nicollet will be attending a golf clinic for ladies and children at the Kensville Golf and Country Club.
The 20-year-old Bangalore golfer, who topped the Women's Professional Association of India merit list last season, will be playing on the Ladies European tour, the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and Women's Golf Association of India Tour this season.
"It was a long tiring fortnight in Spain. I played four rounds in Pre-Qualifying and then five rounds in the final stage and then I had to continue for three more holes to make it after a play-off," said Sharmila.
"The whole fortnight we saw different types of weather. Initially, we had great weather and some really rough weather during the third day. But I suppose it was a great learning experience and I am glad I came through," she said.
Asked about the Kensville Golf and Country Club, Sharmila said, "I have heard a lot about this course. It is a Jeev (Milkha Singh) signature course and many players, who have played here have told me what a great course it is. Wish we could have some women events here in the future."
Managing Director of Savvy Group, Sameer Sinha said, "We are so proud to have Sharmila here at the Kensville. This is her first visit to a major event after her terrific show in Spain.
"She is a great inspiration for all women golfers in India. I am sure many of the ladies and children, who come for the clinic will benefit from her."
