Europe dominated the opening day of the 35th Ryder Cup, winning six-and-a-half points to the USA's one-and-a-half at Oakland Hills on Friday. The Europeans got the ball rolling with a commanding performance in the morning's fourballs, with the Americans having to make do with just half a point from the four on offer. The home side looked to be back on track in the afternoon's foursomes, when they led three of the four matches. But the Europeans hit back to win three out of four and claim the honours on day one.
