Wentworth:
Sunday saw the final round of the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth. Nick Faldo, a three time winner of the tournament, will be delighted with his effort. A six-under-par final round of 66 saw Faldo finish at 15-under, tied for fourth place with Darren Clarke and Anders Hansen. Joakim Haeggman, who is pencilled in as an assistant for European captain Bernhard Langer at this year's Ryder Cup. But the way the Swedish veteran is playing at the moment, he could even be on the team. At 16-under after closing out the weekend with a five-under-par 67, Haeggman finished on his own in third place. He now has five top ten finishes so far this year - including victory in Qatar. Angel Cabrera led by a stroke after Saturday's third round. His final round was an inconsistent affair though. The Argentine eagled the fourth, but then bogeyed the fifth. Birdies at six and seven followed and an eagle at 12 saw Cabrera take a two shot lead. After a bogey four at the 14th, he came within a whisker of a third eagle for the round at 17. It skirted past the hole, however, and the man from Cordoba would not take the title. That was because a man named Scott Drummond was playing the round of his life. Who, you may ask? And not without reason, because the 30-year-old Scotsman was down in 186th place in the Volvo Order of Merit before the PGA Championship. Accurate driving has been the key to Drummond's unexpected triumph - he hit more greens in regulation than anybody else in the tournament. Drummond's putting hasn't been too bad either. Rounds of 66, 71, and 68 were followed by a superb eight-under-par 64 on Sunday. At 19-under, two clear of Cabrera, he equalled the lowest ever total for the tournament. Drummond moves up into eighth in the Order of Merit and pockets a winner's cheque for the tidy sum of 420,000 British pounds, as well as receiving five year's exemption on the European Tour.
